About the Role

Your Key Responsibilities:  
• Lead the implementation of national and regional strategies for the promoted product line. Customers include office-based Physicians, Consultant Pharmacists, Medical Directors, key Medical and Nursing personnel, among others.  
• Hire, train, mentor, conduct performance management/evaluations, and develop coaching plans to ensure efficient and effective account targeting and coverage.  
• Build the Oncology Specialist Sales Team and collaborate with cross-functional teams and other assigned resources to develop and deliver product and disease state account business plans.
• Strong analytical skills are required to effectively use personal and promotional resources to improve sales and market share.  
• Create and implement an area business plan to address product promotion priorities and valid customer requirements.  
• Represent a consistent "CUSTOMER FIRST" approach to business activities and relationships while developing and demonstrating outstanding planning, organizational and leadership skills with an experienced sales force.  
• Serve as a peer leader and resource to the "TEAM" at both an area and national level.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between: Oncology Area Business Leader I and II: $174,400 and $261,600/year | Senior Oncology Area Business Leader $192,00 and $288,000/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period.  Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Essential Requirements:
• Bachelors’ degree required
• A minimum of 3 years of pharmaceuticals sales management experience in the oncology, institutional, or specialty marketplace. 
• Qualified candidates must have a demonstrated record of success in their ability to lead and inspire a sales team towards meeting and exceeding objectives, to communicate and implement tactical product strategies with a sophisticated audience, and to think strategically (i.e., "outside the box" and look at the "big picture") while providing creative and innovative solutions to market problems. 
• Personal integrity and leadership abilities are essential.  
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal), and presentation skills are required.  
• Must be able to effectively multitask, problem-solve, and make decisions. Computer literacy (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Current Novartis associates that have successfully completed the Novartis Sales Management Development Program (SMDP) are eligible. 
• This is a remote position Candidate must be based within that region or within a reasonable daily commuting distance. Ability to travel 60-80% over a broad geography is required, with the ability to drive and/or fly within the territory. No relocation available.

Leveling Guidelines:
The position will be filled at level commensurate with experience.

Oncology Area Business Leader I:
• External: Minimum of 3 years of pharmaceuticals sales management experience, 5 of which must be in the Oncology, Institutional, or Specialist Marketplace.
• Internal: Current Novartis Associates that have successfully completed the Novartis Sales Management Development Program (SMDP) are eligible.
Oncology Area Business Leader II:
• External: Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceuticals sales management experience, 2 of which must be in the Oncology, Institutional, or Specialist Marketplace.
• Internal: Current Novartis Sales Associate that has successfully completed Novartis SMDP or embody 5+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech sales management experience within the last two years prior to joining the company.
Oncology Senior Area Business Leader:
• External: Minimum of 8 years of pharmaceuticals sales management experience, 5 of which must be in the Oncology, Institutional, or Specialist Marketplace.
• Internal: Current Novartis Sales Associate that has successfully completed Novartis SMDP or embody 8+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech sales management experience within the last two years prior to joining the company.
